Chartered in 1975
Celebrating 34 Years of Excellence!
Member of Religious Science International

www.csl-fremont.org/

Dear Members and Friends,,

Happy New Year! This is our 34th year of excellence!

The Science of Mind teaches that we are surrounded by an Infinite Intelligence that operates creatively upon our beliefs. By letting go of destructive beliefs and adopting constructive ones, we cooperate with this Infinite Intelligence in making our lives fulfilling and successful. The month of January will be dedicated to the basic ideas of Religious Science and the Science of Mind. This is a wonderful time to invite friends who want to know more about our teaching to a Sunday service. They will have the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the practical use of the life-changing universal principles which comprise the heart of our teaching. They will also learn how these principles are linked with the world's great spiritual teachings. What a great way to start your year!

I want to thank all of you for your love, support for our wonderful and special Church, and your treatment. Building this Church has been the foundation of my life. I bless and thank each of you for being an important part of it. We have great things planned for 2009!

We celebrate the Life, Love and gift of The Rev. Dr. Jeffrey Proctor, who has recently made transition. He was and will always be a light for all of Religious Science.

Let 2009 be healthy, happy, abundant, stress free and fine!

Have a wonderful 2009!

Dr. Jay

~~ In Loving Memory ~~

Mr. Ernest Hawkins, father of Rev. Dar, made his transition on Friday, December 19th. He was 87 years old.

After the passing of his wife in 1995, he became a world traveler. Having already visited most U.S. cities, he began venturing abroad to Africa, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Cuba, Egypt, Japan, Korea, Mexico, New Zealand and Russia.

In 1954, he opened Hawk's Barbershop, where he worked until his transition. Pictures and videos of his world travels were always on display in his barbershop. He was well known in his community as a go-to guy for help, and he was recently honored on an ABC news piece in Chicago, entitled "Someone You Should Know".

In the words of Rev. Dar, "He lived a good life! And we're very proud of all that he accomplished and all that he taught us. And we know that loving hands have already met him in his new experience."

Thank you and congratulations for another secret Santa success to Verna Kubli and Judy Vetrovec. And also to their helpers Rev Celeste Terken, Kathy Switzer and everyone who toted boxes and helped with wrapping and cleaning. Please contact Verna if you can assist with a portion of this program for 2009. It will only require about 5 hours of your time and would be a great way to keep your Christmas spirit alive all year long.

Friday January 23rd

Metaphysical Movie Night
"Last Holiday"

Starring Queen Latifah, LL Cool J, Timothy Hutton and Gerard Depardieu

What would you do if you thought you only had a few weeks to live? This is the dilemma facing Georgia Byrd in this delightful remake of the original 1950 comedy starring Alec Guinness. Georgia is a mild-mannered retail clerk and amateur chef who has big dreams, but little motivation to make them come true. After being diagnosed with a rare brain tumor, Georgia tosses her book of possibilities in the trash and sets out to turn her dreams into realities while there is still time. This film offers plenty of food for thought about acceptance, courage, following our guidance and how our good sometimes comes disguised as misfortune. What would it take for you to face all the fears that are holding you back? Join us for this entertaining and thought-provoking movie, and the lively discussion to follow. Bring a dessert to share.

Suggested donation, $5

New Classes start the week of January 26th

SOM103
Monday nights by Dr Jay Scott Neale or
Wednesday mornings by Rev. Lacy Atkinson

The focus of Science of Mind 103 is Building a Health Consciousness. Through the process of Spiritual Mind Treatment and greater understanding, the student will begin building a new state of consciousness. This class is taught on Monday nights by Dr Jay Scott Neale and Wednesday mornings by Rev. Lacy Atkinson. The text for this class is Science of Mind by Dr Ernest Holmes & Creative Thought.

SOM 217
Monday nights by Rev Darlene Sykes

SOM 217: Spiritual Fitness will be taught on Monday nights by Rev Darlene Sykes. Spiritual fitness is a lifestyle and an attitude that can help you rediscover the real meaning and sacredness of your life. Like physical fitness, it's not a one time deal - it needs your ongoing commitment. To stay spiritually fit means living in truth and trust, i.e., being yourself at the deepest level in everything you do, bringing all of you to your life experiences. It also means trusting that there is a greater power constantly guiding you and inviting you, through your life experiences, to live more openly and lovingly. When we trust, we make our choices and decisions from a place of love and courage instead of from fear. This in turn gives us clarity and strength. The text for this class is Spiritual Fitness by Caroline Reynolds

SOM 231
Thursday mornings by Rev Dr Cynthia Cavalcanti-Neale

SOM 231: The Essential Emma Curtis Hopkins will be taught on Thursday mornings by Rev Dr Cynthia Cavalcanti Neale. This course is designed to move the committed student from "zero to healer" in twelve lessons. The class includes a "translated" text of Hopkins' 12 lessons into modern language, along with daily practices and guidelines for living more powerfully. This course is recommended for those that have read High Mysticism or Scientific Christian Mental Practice. The text for this class is Unveiling Your Hidden Power by Ruth Miller & Creative Thought

Friday night January 30, 2009

Reverend Darlene Sykes will be ordained

Reverend Darlene Sykes will be ordained Friday night January 30, 2009.

Rev. Darlene Sykes' ordination will be the party to begin the year of change! Clear your calendar for this event, we are dedicated to making this a celebration of "Opulence!" Rev. Dar's motto.

This is a very special event in a minister's life, and we at the Center for Spiritual Living - Fremont intend to make this a celebration to last throughout the years! This will be the standard upon which all other ordination parties will aspire!

A Gathering of Women
Moon Circle presents "Chrysalis"

Join Linda Anson and Lygia Byrd as they present "Chrysalis", the dance of the Soul. Dare to see and experience yourself as you are. Move and be moved, connect gracefully and intimately with others, to feel vibrantly alive and available for what life brings our way. Allow the meaning you see coming up in you to reveal their actual nature.

Journaling will follow the dance session. You will need a notebook and pen. With practice and persistence we strengthen our inner most wisdom. Lygia & Linda are long time members of our church and have led many workshops including dance related workshops. They have both been interested in dance and spirited movement for many years and are now putting that interest into something beautiful to be shared.

Pot luck lunch follows program so bring friends and food to share the morning.

Come before His Presence with singing.”
Ps. 100:1

The Spiritual Dimensions is a chorus of angelic voices brought together in Love to sing as one voice at the Tri-City Church of Religious Science. The choir continues to grow and expand under the direction of Duane Day, a fine musician who shares his gifts in the most wonderful way, consciously bringing out the best in each of the singers with his love and enthusiasm for beautiful music and lyrics to share with the world. Members of the choir contribute their combined talents to the good of the whole - Sopranos, Altos, Tenors and Basses singing with a purpose, to vibrate their voices into one perfect harmonious voice

Treatment for January

Old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
2 Corinthians 5:17 King James Version

The Divine Spirit is forever renewing and replenishing my world. I embrace in wonder and acceptance the gift of each new day. I celebrate my connection to infinite supply. I recognize the good in every person I meet. The perfection of activity provides an innovative experience of abundance. I practice with a fresh understanding the knowledge of whom and what I am. I am blessed with an expanding circle of love expressed through people all around me. My health flourishes and new energy enlivens my pursuits. I am open to the movement of Spirit through me. My gratitude for the truth of principle as demonstrated in my life multiplies as it expresses through me. I let it be my way. And so it is.
